Research from a study conducted by the Entrepreneurship Foundation in Quebec, Canada, has shown that trust is of utmost importance, and thailand telegram datathailand telegram data both the mentor and the mentee must respect the “moral contract” they established at thailand telegram thailand telegram datadatathe beginning of the relationship.
This reinforces my own research studies, which found that both parties must want to be in a relationship. Key elements of a relationship are mutual trust, mutual respect, and freedom of expression.
As ne mentor in the study noted: “At the beginning of the journey, if the mentee feels comfortable with you, they’ll share anything. To build trust, you need to start the way you want to go. You need to be a good listener and ask relevant questions like: how much they know about business, how far they want to go, how much research they’ve done.”
But what does it mean when you say you trust someone?
For many of us, we have met people we have found trustworthy.
When this happens, we find we could act on what they said, trust their sincerity, and feel confident that they would maintain the trust. On the other hand, we have encountered people who seem untrustworthy. This is where we feel disappointed, betrayed, unsupported, or lied to.
According to Stephen M.R. Cove , author of The Speed of Trust , low trust causes friction and creates hidden agendas, interpersonal conflict, rivalries, win-lose thinking, and defensive and protective communication.
On the other hand, Covey argues that if trust is developed and leveraged, it is the only thing that will create unprecedented success, and it is the key leadership competency required in the global economy.
You can’t succeed without trust . Trust is the glue that holds relationships and organizations together.
Covey also argues that trust is quantifiable .
When trust declines, costs skyrocket through delayed decision-making, lower productivity, and reduced service levels. The result is poor business performance with using photo editing to highlight a property’s best features growing suspicion, cynicism, decreased stakeholder engagement, and increased employee turnover.
On the contrary, in situations where there is high trust, costs go down .
Motivation levels rise, relationships are healthy, collaboration thrives, innovation abounds, processes are streamlined, productivity increases, service levels are strengthened, top talent is retained, and results are achieved as the entire workforce is highly engaged.
So how do you assess whether trust is present?
This requires two key elements. First, be sincere in what you say; do we act to fulfill the promises we’ve made, that is, are our actions consistent with our words?
The second element is a matter of competency assessment ; did we demonstrate the ability to deliver what we promised?
Both elements of evaluation, sincerity and competence, come together when we are working to determine whether or not we trust.
Building trust requires people to take risks and step outside their comfort zones.
It is the mentor’s responsibility to inspire and build trust in a proactive and deliberate manner .
A high-trust environment is one where people can come together and do what’s necessary to overcome the challenges businesses face today.
Like Ulysses, youth business programs entrust their entrepreneurs to their valuable and trusted mentors. Without the mentor, there would be b2c fax no program. However, with this responsibility comes the responsibility of the program!
